Do you view your life from a feeling of lack or blessing?

I have work to do in this area, but I want to share a few things I am learning.

When we view our life from a place of lack, that's how we will experience it. Shift into gratitude, looking for miracles and blessings, and watch your world change.

We all know what it feels like to want something we don't currently have. Like that perfect dress, a new puppy, the newest iPhone, a different number on the scale, a new attitude, more time, more energy, more money... These are normal. However, many of us linger there, in a state of wanting and not having enough, a state of lack that never seems to subside. We consistently perceive ourselves as not having what we need or not having what we want, always pointing out something wrong or finding something to complain about. This is an energetically draining state to be in. It is also self-perpetuating because how we feel about ourselves (and others) determines what we are able to create for ourselves (and in our relationships).

How we feel profoundly influences how we perceive our reality. When we feel we are lacking, we look around and see what is not there. On the other hand, if we feel blessed and filled to overflowing, we can look at the very same situation and see a completely different picture, one full of blessings and advantages. The more we see the blessings, the more filled to abundance we feel, and the more blessings we attract. Similarly, if we see lack, if we look for what is wrong, we tend to create and attract more of that.

One of my students (only 10 at the time) during a studio class created a jaw dropping memorable moment when he profoundly shared his secret to getting out of a rut in his practice. When he was not liking what he was hearing and nothing he was doing to fix it seemed to be helping, he would take a short break, then come back fresh, choosing to start looking for what he DID like in his playing. His practice always shifted. I wrote about this back in 2016 here

If you find yourself habitually residing in a feeling of not enough, something always wrong, it may be due to a core belief formed early in life. It may also be because you are out of touch with the true SOURCE of your blessings. No matter, know that your perception of NOT ENOUGH is a misperception that can be corrected with awareness and skill. Maybe take 10 or 15 minutes each day to quiet your mind and imagine yourself in a state of unlimited blessing and healing, no longer burdened by the toxicity you feel sucked down by. Imagine handling demands and relationships in your life with total ease, drawing from an endless supply of patience and love and tenderness, especially toward yourself. Focus on what you DO want more than what you DON’T want. Catch your thoughts. Don’t rehearse the ones that take you away from that goal. You are here for a bigger purpose than to shrink and judge and spiral. Be who you were created to be, full of life, powerful, impacting and generous. Look for what is going right. If you really want to see it, you WILL find it. Isn’t the presence of God everywhere?
