Am I operating with a shield of fear or a shield of faith?
The greatest attitude one can have is that of faith. Fear is usually something we have made up in our own head. It is an illusion. It is an aberration. It is not based in truth.
Living from authenticity, being our true selves and showing up as the best version of ourselves as often as we can in this ONE LIFE we are given is hard stuff, but we can do Hard Things!!
Let’s face it, life is tough. We ALL have our “stuff”….What are you facing right now? How are you handling it? Are you feeding your fears? Or, are you feeding your faith? What are you expecting to happen on the other side? Faith is a DECISION and requires action. We.each.have.choice. It is entirely up to you which way YOU will focus.
It is our behavior, the choices and actions we take, not our thoughts and feelings that determine our outcome. What action am I going to take? Does believing that thought or doing that thing take me the direction that I ultimately want to go? It boils down to choice. We are in charge of ourselves. No one else is. We are either going forward or backward.
What are you fighting for? Your fear? Or, your faith?
When I talk about a shield of fear or a shield of faith, I’m referencing that both of them are being used to protect us from something. We may not realize it, but excuses and “buts” are barriers we put up to moving in the way that ultimately serves us. It is a way we are attempting to protect ourselves. Perhaps from seeing ourselves fail? Hiding from not feeling good enough as our real, authentic self. Witnessing ourselves not stay consistent long enough for whatever it is to work, therefore not actually keeping a promise to ourselves and proving our lack of discipline which translates into a lack of self-love and self-respect. Perhaps if we aren’t going to try, that vulnerable part of ourselves won’t be seen therefore we cannot be judged.
We cannot fall and get hurt if we do not climb.
I have heard that the number one attribute of the most successful people in the world is their attitude. I have also heard that the greatest attitude one can have is that of faith. When you look at some of the GREATEST musicians in the world, do you see them walking out on stage second-guessing themselves? Worrying about the shift in the third phrase? Stiff with anxiety? Or, do you see them transcending something and allowing the audience witnessing their music to also be transcended?
Think about this: the fear we imagine is just as much unseen as faith and belief and hope. It takes just as much effort to imagine the worst as to imagine the best. I might as well choose to look for the best.
I have been thinking and working a lot about habit creation the last several months. The next 90 days I am focusing on what I am calling the “habit of growth”.
Having the habit of a great attitude takes practice. We must develop it. Mastering something means applying and repeating over and over until it is so intrinsic that you can’t help but do it. Also, in order to instill a habit of any kind, it must be doable, repeatable, and there must be some evidence that it is making a difference, otherwise why would be be motivated to keep going? So, it is essential to apply this idea in little steps. Just noticing, is what I’m about to do or say or believe going to serve what I ultimately want? What is it I ultimately want? Where am I, and what am I doing right now? These are the basic principles of the entire program I have been doing since February, applied to anything. It started with my nutrition and getting to a healthy weight, then to my healthy mind, emotions, motion, sleep, surroundings. As you can see it applies to anything and everything, and literally never ends.
Starting with getting my body healthy makes a lot of sense. I know that when I am feeling good physically, I make much different decisions in how I respond to the world around me. Eat well, Feel well Eat bad, Feel bad Eat nothing, Feel like doing nothing. I highly recommend for everyone to get their physical bodies in the best working order. It’s never too early or too late to create healthy habits inside and out.
I feel so fortunate to have found something that has been so transformational for me on so many levels, and I am excited to be able to share it.
